The two tracks

How the tracks differ

Neither track ranks above the other. They ask for different numbers of hours, and a dancer can change at the start of any session.

  • A row of small children seen from behind at the ballet barre in pink tights, a teacher in profile beside them
    Relaxed pace

    Recreational track

One or two classes a week, a new style to try each year and a recital in May. No audition; a dancer joins when there is room, and can change tracks at the start of any session.

  • A group of teens seen from behind in black practice clothes, feet wide, in a hip hop routine
    More time

    Company track

Three to four days a week from September to May, a few regional events each season and the May recital. It begins with an audition in August, and we describe the time, travel and extras before anyone decides.

    Not sure yet?

Book a placement visit. A dancer takes a class with a teacher watching, and we talk through both tracks with you, in English or in Spanish. Many families start on the recreational track and decide later.

    • A talk about both tracks

    • No decision on the day

Still deciding?

A placement visit is a class with a teacher watching. We talk through both tracks afterward.
